Kick off summer with time in the saddle. Breckenridge is packing the community’s favorite cycling activities – mountain and road demos, skills clinics, and guided tours – into a few days of fun. Say hello to summer and check out Breckenridge's vast network of trails.

Wednesday, June 21st, 2017:

Summit County's Bike to Work Day (7:00am-10:00am) – Leave your car in the driveway and join fellow commuters on a morning pedal to work.  If the fresh air and bit of exercise isn’t enough to jumpstart you in the morning, join us for an extra jolt with a complimentary cup of coffee, and entry into the bike-to-work-day raffle presented by PANTS (Physical Activities and Nutrition Team of Summit) in the Blue River Plaza right in the heart of Breck. 

Mayor's Favorite Lunch Loop (12pm-2pm) - Join Breckenridge Mayor, Eric Mamula, on his favorite MTB lunch loop. Where is the Mayor's favorite place for a quick afternoon pedal? He is willing to share but only with those who come on the ride, so don't miss out. The ride will take appoximately 2 hours starting in Blue River Plaza and ending at Downstairs at Eric's. Refuel with apps at Downstairs at Eric's following the ride.

Summit Mountain Challenge (5pm) - Kick off Breck Bike Week with Race #2 in the Summit Mountain Challenge series: Gold Run Rush. CLICK HERE to register.

Bike-in-Movie: LateNite @ the District (7:30pm-11:00pm) – Hop on your bike and ride over to the Breckenridge Arts District for a movie under the stars. Breckenridge Creative Arts will be playing the 1979 movie, Breaking Away, on Wednesday night. Click here for more information. 

 

Thursday, June 22nd, 2017:

Yeti Beti Women's MTB Skills Clinic (10:00am-12:00pm): BEGINNER -  Mountain bike skills workshop designed by women, for women. This clinic is designed for women that are newer to the sport of mountain biking or for those that are a bit tentative on singletrack. This clinic will focus on basic technique to help you ride singletrack with confidence and overcome small obstacles in the trail. The clinic is FREE! Please arrive on time with your bike, helmet, sunglasses, gloves, rain jacket, hydration pack or bottle, bike tools and tube. The ride will meet in Blue River Plaza at 9:40am and depart at 10:00am. Please contact CAmbrose@vailresorts.com if you have questions.

Ridden Brewery and Distillery Fat Bike Tour (1:00pm) - Discover points of interest and Breckenridge history as we casually roll through town on a high performance carbon fiber fat bike. Once out of town the real adventure begins as we descend to our destinations on the scenic Blue River Rec Path. This tour is free to sign up for but limited to 10 people. Yeti Beti Women's MTB Skills Clinic (2:00pm- 4:30pm): INTERMEDIATE - Mountain bike skills workshop designed by women, for women. This clinic is designed for women that are comfortable on singletrack, but looking to overcome more advanced obstacles and improve their flow. Riders should be comfortable doing 15-mile rides. This clinic will focus on finesse through switchbacks, conquering larger obstacles on the trail (manmade and natural) and efficient pedal stroke and posture for longer rides. The clinic is FREE! Please arrive on time with your bike, helmet, sunglasses, gloves, rain jacket, hydration pack or bottle, bike tools and tube. The ride will meet at the Blue River Plaza at 1:40pm and depart at 2:00pm. Please contact CAmbrose@vailresorts.com if you have questions.

Happy Hour Bike Maintenance Clinics - Mountain Wave (6:30pm - 7:30pm) - Get in behind the counter to learn “basic, on the trail, bike repair” with professional bike mechanics and learn how to take care of your ride. This clinic will give you the tools to better fix a flat, repair a broken chain, best tool carry options, co2/pump pros and cons and much more. This clinic is hosted by Mountain Wave (600 South Park Ave in Breckenridge).

Friday, June 23rd, 2017:

Vendor Expo and Demo (10am-5pm) - Cruise by the Blue River Plaza and discover the bike expo and demo area, outfitted with demo bikes ranging from Mountain to Road. Come see what's new from top cycling manufacturers such as Trek, Shimano, and more to see the latest and greatest in bikes and components. Have a great demo and don't know where to take it? Stop by Colorado Adventure Guides' booth in the expo area and they will take you out on a free guided mini-tour. 

Firecracker 50 Pre-Ride presented by Breck Bike Guides (8:30am) - Breck Bike Guides has you covered as they lead you through one of the summer’s best race loops. Whether you are training, can’t participate in this year’s classic 4th of July race, or just love cycling, join us on this led ride where you never have to worry about getting turned around or feeling lonely while climbing up Little French. Meet in Blue River Plaza (203 S. Main St. Breckenridge by the Welcome Center) at 8:15am for an 8:30am departure.

Breckenridge Bike and Brews Guided Day Tour (1:00pm) - Tap into epic cycling and get a taste of Colorado’s thriving beer scene. The pace is leisurely as we cycle in the shadow of majestic peaks on our way to Breckenridge’s newest brewery, Broken Compass. Next up is a stop at the world’s highest distillery, where you’ll sample award winning hooch blended with pure Rocky Mountain water. Our final stop will be at Colorado’s third craft brewery. From a broad selection of beers that are available year-around to seasonal favorites, there’s a beer for every taste. Enjoy a glimpse of Breckenridge’s historical district as we make our way back to our starting point. This tour is free to sign up for but limited to 10 people. Mountain Bike Skills Clinic- Colorado Adventure Guides- Beginner Course (2:00pm- 5:00pm) - Join Colorado Adventure Guides for an entry-level mountain biking skills course that is designed for folks with little or no mountain biking experience, or those with riding experience who would like to hone fundamental riding skills.  Instructors will touch on such topics as trail etiquette, pre-ride bike inspection, and basic mountain biking skills as an introduction to singletrack riding.  This clinic is FREE!.  Participants should arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to clinic start time at the Colorado Adventure Guides booth in Blue River Plaza. Please bring your bike, helmet, eye protection, gloves, rain jacket, hydration pack or bottle, bike tools and tube.  We recommend flat pedals for all beginner courses. This clinic is limited to the first 10 to sign up, so please contact abe@coloradoadventureguides.com to get signed up.

Summit Fat Tire Poker Ride presented by Carvers: (9:00 am) - A not-to-miss highlight to the week, the infamous Poker Ride is returning. Any event presented by Carvers and the Fat Tire Society is sure to be a good time, so grab your bike, put on y

our best poker-face, and get ready to pedal around to collect your hand. $30 for adults and $20 for 17 and under to enter. Help support Summit Fat Tire and their local trail work and stewardship helping to make Summit County the great cycling destination it is. CLICK HERE to register.


Lake Loop Fondo presented by Breck Bike Guides (9:00am) - Take a breathtaking scenic road ride around Lake Dillon on this 40 Mile “lollypop” loop which goes from Breckenridge, around the lake, down Swan Mountain, and back to Breck while almost all on the bike path . Whether you are looking to push yourself for time or just enjoy the views around the county, this ride is for you. Meet in Blue River Plaza.

Funkadelic Pond Crossing Challenge (4-5pm) - Ride across the 10" floating plank at the Dredge pond in downtown Breckenridge. This is a disco themed event, costumes encouraged. Prizes for first to Cross, fastest to cross (male and female), best costume, best crash and more! This is a free event open to the first 25 to register.


Adult Big Wheel Race (4:30pm) - Get ready to grab your favorite goofy costume, hop on a Big Wheel (yes those plastic bikes from when you were a kid) and race around the Dredge Pond. This will be a not to miss intermission to the Pond Crossing. Prizes for First, Second, Third and best costume. More details coming soon!

Breck Mtn Enduro (9:00am) - Enduro racing is coming to Breckenridge this summer! Enduro is best described as a mostly downhill-oriented cross country race and is the hottest format in mountain bike racing right now. Maverick Sports Promotions is bringing this event to the Breck Bike Week Schedule. This will be Race #3 in the Summit Mountain Challenge series. CLICK HERE to register for the Enduro.


Mountain Bike Skills Clinic - Colorado Adventure Guides: INTERMEDIATE (10:00am-1:00pm) -  Join Colorado Adventure Guides for an intermediate mountain biking skills course that is designed for for intermediate level riders with some riding experience looking to elevate their riding confidence on moderately technical climbs and descents.  Instructors will touch on such topics as trail etiquette, pre-ride bike inspection, and intermediate mountain biking skills, such as high speed cornering, technical climbing, roll downs, and more.  This clinic is FREE!.  Participants should arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to clinic start time at the Colorado Adventure Guides booth in Blue River Plaza. Please bring your bike, helmet, eye protection, gloves, rain jacket, hydration pack or bottle, bike tools and tube. Bikes + Beers + Bands (10:00am-4:00pm) - Be one of the inagural riders to take part in the first event of this new summer series in Breckenridge! Breck Bike Guides and RMU are teaming up to offer a day full of skills clinics, post-ride beers, and good tunes. Each ticket includes a guided ride, skills training at the Breckenridge Pump Track, and two beers to enjoy while local bands take over the RMU stage and Ballast Point Brewing takes over the taps. $15/person--all proceeds from the guided ride benefit Summit County Search and Rescue. Discounted bike rentals will be available. More information here.
